Families Visit Voices Roadshow

February 15, 2010

Shanklin families are making the most of half term by attending the roadshow, and using the exhibition as a fun fact finding opportunity.

Local residents, and visitors to the Town, have expressed a great deal of interest in the artefacts and use them to trigger memories and current thoughts.
Visitors have been surprised to discover that Keats was a resident in the Town, with fellow poets Tennyson, Swimburne, Manley and Longfellow also linked to the  seaside resort – in addition to writers such as Marx, Darwin and Dickens (who lived along the coast in Bonchurch).

Can we have more old pictures of the town, the ones of the Pier and Railway has brought back memories and it would be good to see more of the Town the way it was.

Great exhibition, would be good to have more pictures of the esplanade and seafront – the pier brought back memories, what is there for young people to do now.

Sorry to be pedantic, but the poet’s name is Swinburne, not Swimburne!. Those typos are a pest!

    Good luck with the project.
